When we went back to the States last summer, we went to the party store to pick out supplies. She was given a choice of plates that had horses on them that didn't match the shirt or to use colors that coordinated with the shirt. I think she made the right choice!

horses and horseshoes and we glued magnets to the back.

There was a race to see who could stack the
highest sugar cube tower in one minute
(that game works for a tea party, too).

Pin the tail on the horse (of course!).
Big Girl drew the horse and cut out tails.
The winner got a jar of Cowgirl Cookie mix.

We splurged and bought an indoor/outdoor set of horseshoes.
Mr. YH ran the tournament in the playroom.
Despite a demonstration, the girls kept choosing
an interesting throwing technique!
{Everyone got one!}

Time for cake.
Last summer we found copies of Black Beauty
on the Target $ rack. We added a color by number
of a horse and some licorice.

I've banned all kids from talking about the next party themes until we're back in the States. We have just one more party here before we go. Can you believe last Friday was the two year mark for us?! As we huddle up indoors to keep warm, we sometimes wonder if it was worth extending 6 months to get on the summer moving cycle- then again, we'd be moving in this, so I guess so, right?!

Hi Tara,
ReplyDeleteJust found you from the comment you left on my guest post at Reluctant Entertainer.
What a nice blog you have and love the post all about the "Horse Party". You are such a great mom. And your kids...pictured in the banner of your blog...are absolutely adorable!
Have a great day.
Love,
Mary
Happy 9th Birthday! You did a great job on the decorations and I'm very impressed with the cake. It really doesn't seem like it has been 2 years already. Where does the time go?
ReplyDeleteWere the laundry scoops a big hit at your party? :)
Enjoyed seeing these as much this second time as the first. You sure do throw great parties!! :) Stay warm! :)
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful party! I see Big Girl is a planner, huh? Love it! Wonder where she gets that?! LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteDid you make the cake? I will be super impressed if you did, but it's absolutely beautiful either way. Are they throwing the horseshoes Frisbee style? LOL!
Great job!
Oh, and I CANNOT believe it has been 2 years already!!! It seems (to me anyway) like y'all just moved!
Happy (belated) Birthday Big Girl! Tara, the theme was beautiful! You are always so creative and I'm impressed by your abilities to plan so far ahead for your parties!
