Big Girl is our verbal child.
We decided to teach her how to play Scrabble this past weekend.
We've probably created a monster, and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
But we had a great time, and have a fantastic memory from our Sunday afternoon game:
As we'd play, she'd ask, "Is there a word with [pick your letters]?"
"Big Girl, it is not good strategy to tell everyone which tiles are on your rack."
She was itching to play her Z and plopped down ADZE.
"Big Girl, that is not a word. Why are you wasting your turn?"
"Fine, I'll take off the E. There. ADZ."
[again, we tried to get her to rethink]
"No, I think that's a word. I've read it somewhere. You'll have to challenge me."
So, her daddy did just that and guess what?

And she got the triple letter.
I guess reading the dictionary pays off!

That little stinker! Love her!
ReplyDeleteso funny! :) doesn't surprise me at all but still makes me laugh! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you are going to have to stay on top of your game!
ReplyDeleteSo I know I could totally Google that word, but what does it mean?
Oh. My. Word. Please send her to me and let me teach her next year!!!
ReplyDeleteHi, dropping by from Foursons....yup, you HAVE created a monster. But in a good way. We love Scrabble at this house.
ReplyDeleteCracking up because I knew ADZE was a word - I knew you were in trouble :) She's a smartie!
ReplyDeleteHi I found your blog through "Kelly's" I started reading and now I am hooked!
ReplyDeleteMy brother (now 30) has read the dictionary and the Encyclopedia from 1984...beware. He is a triple major and double minor and pure evil at Jeopardy, Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble!
