6. Make Homemade Ice Cream

After the kids and I sat down to make their list, I sent some of it off to Baba and Didyc. They were WONDERFUL in making it all happen- buying cool guns, planning a picnic after the zoo, calling the fire station to set up a tour, and having ingredients on hand for the ice cream. We didn't really need to do any of these activities because the children would have had a blast just playing outside (and they did! it's rough now!), but I love it that they listened to what the kids were interested in doing and joined in the fun!

Sampling the ingredients

Mmmm! The finished product!

We have one of those ice cream balls
to make our own frozen treat, but I put it in storage.
I think we may need a machine when we get back, though!

How about you? Do you make your own ice cream?
What is your favorite flavor?

  1. YUMMY! We don't make it now but I sure remember it as a child. They will always treasure this sweet memory Tara. How wonderful! :)

  2. Yum, yum. We made homemade ice cream growing up...always vanilla. Favorite flavor of ice cream is Moose Tracks - vanilla with chunks of fudge and peanut butter cups. Don't allow myself to have that any more - too dangerous. Cookies 'n cream is a close fave. :)

  3. Everybody in my family loves homemade ice cream, except me. I am very stubborn, anal(?) when it comes to my ice cream. I prefer Baskin Robbins. But its fun to make, I loved it growing up as a kid cause my nanny would make it and give us CC cookies with it!! Cute pics and so glad your kids enjoyed it!
