Sunny Day

Certainly every one of you knows that we are still waiting on our household goods shipment and that my children have been limited to about one toy and a few odds and ends we've picked up or been sent since we packed in January. And now that we're coming to the end of month 4 in suitcases, we're all growing a teensy weensy weary of it all.

Mr. YH had the biggest conference of the year two weeks ago and we hardly saw him. Desperate for something novel, I showed the kids You Tube videos. We watched elephants, camels, horses, and pigs being born. We watched bullet trains in Japan, jets landing on air craft carriers, and volcanoes exploding. And then my friend Kelly told me about Sesame Street's online site where we could watch classic clips from the show.

Oh. my. word! My kids love these! And truth be told, I love them, too! We just sat here for 30 minutes watching one clip after another before their bed time and had so much fun laughing and snuggling together in front of the computer. After I put them to bed, I looked around online and found the Old School Sesame Street volume 2 (the episodes from when I was a little girl) on half.com for about half the price it was retailing for. This is going to be such a fun surprise for them! And I can't wait for them to see Lily Tomlin sitting in that huge chair looking so small or when Big Bird wants everyone to meet Snuffy but they don't believe he really exists!

What was one of your favorite parts about Sesame Street?

  1. Oh my goodness. So fun! We did not get Sesame Street when I was a kid. We lived in the country. The only channel we got was Fox. Bugs Bunny and Friends was our cartoon. When I was a little older we got a satellite(you remember the 1st satellites for homes? They were humongostrous) I LOVED Fragglerock!!!!!!

  3. I may be one of the only kids in America that didn't watch Sesame Street. I don't know why. I think my youngest brother did. I don't think we watched much TV at all when I was young. The brief clips I've seen from news stories or whatever it looks very cute and educational. Perhaps A will be into it soon and I can get educated. From what little I know about the characters, my fave is Snuffalupagus (sp?)

Praying that the belongings will be there VERY soon! :)

  6. I love this post...it made me giggle at the end. I have been trying to tell my 21 yr old son about the Big Bird/Snuffy saga for his entire life...he think's I'm a nut, LOLOL. I've been telling my best friend about Lily Tomlin sitting that chair for years (I do a decent imitation of her voice too, LOL)...but she doesn't remember!!! I want those videos too! ;)
