Going Public

Every now and then I think it'd be fun to join the blog-ettes of the world wide web in one of the linky posts, but since our family blog, Inside the Yellow Hat is only for insiders, it hasn't been possible...until now. Introducing, Mrs. Yellow Hat, who can now reveal snippets of what goes on inside the Yellow Hat.

I look like a hunchback because I scanned this from a family photo in which we were on our bellies. It was a good hair day that day. And I wasn't laughing so hard that my eyes were squint-y. So, a face to go under the hat.

My husband and I are both of Dutch ancestry, and the only point in saying that is that our last name (which has an Americanized spelling) means "yellow hat." While stationed overseas, we had the opportunity (um, rather I begged him to let me go see the tulips in bloom) to take a trip to Holland and visit the village his great great grandfather immigrated from. On a dike near the village is The Yellow Hat restaurant. Sadly, we were unable to eat there because it was a holiday weekend- the queen's birthday (my daughter, 2 at the time, was quite put out that she was not invited to the party).

And here are a few shots of the tulips we saw at Keukenhof.

My firstborn-
how convenient that Gymboree had a matching line out for our trip!
