Guest Room Tour

This week at Kelly’s- the guest room tours.

Up front, I am without a guest bedroom at this duty station, and I really hate that because I love having company. But don’t leave yet! I have stuff for one!! I thought I’d share the heart of the room despite the teeny tiny fact the four walls don’t exist.

The theme of the room revolves around our family heritage and has a bit more of the antique look to it. My mom is a fantastic quilter- she made this one at my request. The accessory pillows use the green fabrics.

This is a painting I picked up in Holland.

I have pictures of our grandparents on their wedding days around the room.

Mr.YH's grandma gave everyone this letter and a coin for Christmas one year. I found it after we were married in a box. I had all this framed together.

If you have a minute, it’ll be worth your time to enlarge the letter and read it. It’s simply priceless.

And this is my Granny and Paw-Paw.

This photo was taken in August 1941- a couple of months after they eloped. These were their eloping outfits. I always loved this photo and Granny made a copy for me. She died a year ago, and Mom recently sent this to me.

I wanted to change the frame out and took it with me to the craft store. I opened the old one to see exactly how the picture was mounted and found this inside:

I lost it right there in the store. And to the nice lady who handed me tissue and listened to me try to explain my meltdown, thank you.

Can’t wait to peek into your rooms!

  4. What a sweet letter! I love all the old photos! I've included old photos in our home as well. I think it's important and also interesting to other people visiting. Your windmill picture is also very pretty!
